Today, Friday, June 7th, the bands selected through the district calls for submissions were announced, thus completing the official lineup of the Rock al Parque festival in its twenty-fifth edition, to be held on June 29 and 30 and July 1 at the Simón Bolívar Metropolitan Park. Pending confirmation of the official schedules, we can say that Bogota's representation at the event is a combination of veterans and new talent that, in general, we hope will represent the host city in a worthy manner. If we consider some details, there is a lack of female representation in the selection, as well as one or two representatives of the new indie wave from the Colombian capital. On the other hand, it is noticeable that many of the up-and-coming bands in the local music scene have not wanted to remain connected with the festival, as they hope not to go through the entire bureaucratic selection process.
In any case, to get down to business, From the twenty selected groups, we dare to recommend the following:
–Behind the spikesA powerful, raw group with a sound close to Latin metal and hardcore. A trio with the ability to stir the masses with their sonic force.
–TappanThey know how to combine distortion with catchy melodies. Their song structures are well-rounded and appealing. Live, they know how to ignite passions.
–TequendamaThey're generating a lot of buzz, as all four members have a rich history in the capital's music scene. Mix elements of corrosive electronica, hardcore distortion, and classic rock melodies and enjoy a great musical cocktail.
–CurupiraClassics within the fusion genre, with many years under their belt and extensive experience in the experimental sector. They may surprise within the current festival framework.
Anyway. We'll see how this all turns out. For now, we're getting ready for a huge party that's sure to draw hundreds of thousands of people that long weekend. Zonagirante will gradually reveal details about the festival and keep you informed.
