What does the band sound like?

Rock with influences from Blues, Folk, Country, Punk Rock and Latin American music

Year of the group's birth.

The band has been called Los Makenzy since 2014. But we've been working since 2007.

Which do you remember as the best performance in their history?

The best gig we ever played was at Paris Blues in New York City. We've never been poorer or happier. We went there because they gave away food, and by some twist of fate, they let us play. It's a place frozen in time, with posters of the Black Panthers from the '60s and photos of jam sessions from that era. The audience was all Black people from West Harlem who laughed at the fact that there were a couple of Colombians who wanted to play some blues for them (hahaha). After the first song, five seconds of silence, followed by the biggest ovation we'll ever get. At the end of the night, even the owner took pictures with us. By far the best day of our lives, at least that's what we were saying while we were recycling trash (our job back then) after the gig.

A significant phrase from one of his songs.

What are you expecting from your performance at Rock al Parque?

The first time we applied to the festival was in 2008, and we haven't stopped trying since. This year, we finally got our little miracle, and in the best possible time slot. After so many attempts, I think the only thing we're hoping for is that the double bass doesn't give us feedback.

Which concerts do you want to see during the festival?

Catfish, Mon Laferte and Robi Draco

What does Bogotá mean to you?

Bogotá is our biggest challenge yet. It's like in romantic movies when the protagonist sees the woman and realizes she's the love of his life and has to do everything to win her over. I don't think things have ever been as difficult for us anywhere else in the world as they are in this city. We're sure that if you're truly committed to making it here, you can make it anywhere.

What are your 5 favorite songs from the musical repertoire made in Latin America?

Total Loss – Leon Larregui

Winter Confessions – Sui Generis

Treat me gently – whoever the author,

Life – Cadillacs and the favorite: Demolishing hotels – Charly Garcia
