Cosquín Rock, the Argentinian festival that since 2001 has featured artists such as Babasónicos, León Gieco + D-MENTE, Todos Tus Muertos, Deep Purple, Manu Chao and Charly García himself or the multifaceted Emir Kusturica, 16 years after his first concert in southern lands, he decided to come to Colombia with the help of its founder, José Palazzo.
Talking about Mojingaga, No Te Va Gustar, Attaque 77, Aterciopelados, R3sidente or how impeccable the Fabulous Cadillacs are Whenever they go on stage, it's something we all know and that many will write about. For me, the important thing about all this is... It is about talking about or reflecting on the importance of music as a form of discourse and its ability to make the audience sing along strongly to every verse.
Watching people go crazy in a mosh pit and then chanting “dare” These are things that one has to appreciate about music. The ability to create that connection is something that the attendees and the musicians have in common., Understanding that we on this side of the continent can't hold a big festival just to shut ourselves off from what we love, from diversity and rhythm as a unifying force. You could see people raising their fists, shouting, or waving their hands like in a stadium—the communion, the religious feeling, and the fervor of attending that open-air ritual, waiting or hoping that at some point that person on the stage will sing the song we like the most Or that he plays with his teammates while one of them performs a virtuoso solo and the stage lights explode in the eyes of those who are glued to the barrier, it is the cry of the fan, of the one who feels that that song was composed for him and that it will always make him shout in the chorus.
Those were different times, when only reruns or washed-up artists came here, and we were practically invisible on the concert promoters' maps. That's why Cosquín Rock has arrived in Colombia and hopefully it will stay for many editions And may all this continue to be an effort so that we, the dinosaurs of rock, finally understand that Music is meant to be enjoyed and experienced to the fullest.
