Palomino is a town of just over 3,500 people, located 76 kilometers from Santa Marta, one of the main tourist centers on the Colombian Atlantic coast. This seaside spot has become popular among adventurous travelers, as the promotional guides on social media literally state, «"To connect with a bohemian atmosphere, incredible landscapes, beautiful beaches with perfect waves for learning to surf, and a cultural environment.". Its territory has all thermal zones, from sea level to the perpetual snows of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Palomino has also recently become known for hosting one of the most important festivals in the Caribbean., The Jaguar Experience, which will celebrate its seventh edition on January 6, 2022.

Their artistic lineup features prominent local names from Systema Solar, Cato Anaya, Zero39, Zeze Music, Miguel Pretell, The Brown Lion, and Radiant, Among others, this list now includes international guests, Mr. Id, from Morocco and Io Mx From Mexico. Complementing the festive atmosphere, Jaguar will host a food, design, and art fair, which, according to its organizers, hopes to contribute to the economic recovery of the area. To learn more about this event, We have contacted Johana Saavedra, Director and founder, who has given us more information about it:

What does the 2022 Jaguar sound like?
Jaguar sounds like independent music, alternative music. It sounds like environmental and social awareness. It sounds like nature, rivers, and the sea.

How is the festival curated?
The curation is tailored to the content of each festival. It also depends on memories, allies, partners, friends, and well, what can I say… it's magic!

Give me details about the magic of this new edition
The truth is that after the pandemic I feel the need for the 90% of line up Let it truly be a coastal scene, not just a place for people from Bogotá to come and play. Spending the entire pandemic in the Caribbean without being able to hug your family makes you appreciate these wonderful people from the coast. That's why Systema Solar, the ambassadors of the Caribbean to the world, will be joining us.

What special features does this year's Festival have? Why is it called "The Experience"?
This seventh edition, unlike previous ones, is a unique experience because we have a different schedule. We open our doors at nine in the morning, a family-friendly time, until seven in the evening, and then again until dawn. We'll also have activities for children and adults, and we'll be hosting a fair called Picnic Paraíso, which contributes to the economic recovery of tourism in the region. Equally important, we'll have a private beach next to the Palomino River, with the option of taking surf lessons or simply enjoying some family time. The experience is about coming to the Sierra, coming with your family, and enjoying spaces filled with music and community after a difficult pandemic. It's about rediscovering the love for family and others, amidst a pristine environment connected to nature.

Is this an event designed to protect the environment?
More than just protecting it, it's about using artistic tools and entertainment to guide people toward ecological and environmental awareness of global warming. We don't believe in superheroes, but we do witness environmental campaigns taking place within music festivals, so that people subconsciously access this information, even if they aren't environmentalists. In other words, it's a tool for transforming the world. Romantically speaking.

Any particular recommendations for those planning to go to Palomino this year?
So, we recommend that you come, join us, spend that 24-hour beach day without end, buy your tickets and flights, and join us this January 6th for the Jaguar 2022 experience. Right in the heart of the world.
