This is perhaps one of the most interesting, and, in the same proportion, least promoted events on the Bogotá music calendar. It's called Colombia to the park, It is organized by the District Institute of the Arts (Idartes), an entity of the Mayor's Office of Bogotá, and its function is, we could say, to give meaning, in the midst of the contemporary maelstrom, to Music with folk origins from all regions of the country. In recent years, the festival has wisely included international guests to broaden its scope and connect local arts with cultural expressions from other countries, further enriching the event's sonic landscape. This year features top-tier offerings from Mexico, Peru, and Venezuela, including the immeasurable Pastor López (a classic tradition at all Christmas celebrations throughout Colombia), Maroons, a great example of Afro-rock fusion and, finally, one of the great protagonists of Latin American electronic music in the last two decades, Nortec Collective.
Colombia al Parque, to be held between August 25 and 27, The festival will take place at the Fabio Lozano Auditorium at Jorge Tadeo Lozano University, the La Media Torta open-air auditorium, and the traditional Los Novios Park, in the western part of the city. There will be something for everyone: sounds from both Colombian coasts, expressions from the interior of the country, and vallenato (the maestro will be present). Jorge Oñate), party fusions and various surprises. The full program can be viewed at http://colombiaalparque.gov.co/programacion. This is a family-friendly festival where people of all ages can enter completely free of charge. Let's hope the weather cooperates, giving us one less excuse to miss it.
