Personally, I have always argued when Latin American musical projects make their music in English. I believe (sometimes without much basis) that the European and American music markets are not kind to music produced in this part of the world that is expressed in English. And, moreover, it must be said clearly, The vast majority of attempts have a laughable accent and are unattractive to the average listener in the industrialized world.. On the other hand, and although it may sound very whiny, if Spanish is what we speak every day, and there are more than five hundred million Spanish speakers, why complicate our lives by resorting to another language that is not our own?
Likewise, when one hears groups like the Peruvians King Lotus (Pepe Safra and Carlos Torres) the moment arrives to shut our mouths and listen attentively, knowing that they, like few others on the continent, can do things well using English. Their forte is a well-crafted disco-pop, With exciting moments for the dance floor and enough quality to attract the attention of music critics worldwide, they're gradually releasing their material on social media, and their audience is growing rapidly. They've released three songs so far, and the latest, called Remember me, a song that features the collaboration of Marié, It has all the elements to be played on any commercial radio station around the world. And yes, Marié sings in English and, let's face it, she's not bad at all.
King Lotus will soon release a fourth song And thus they will complete a stage that will allow them to wave their flags so that the rest of humanity can get to know them better. For now, enjoy their third single, fresh out of the sound ovens:
