There are superlative terms that decent journalists don't use. They fear sounding exaggerated or committed to what they mistakenly call "objectivity". There are critics, the vast majority of them highly respectable, who are afraid to express joy and wonder when discussing contemporary music. Some fear appearing out of place. Others believe we live in times where nothing can match the talent of the classical era, and, perhaps due to a condemnation whose origin we do not know, We don't deserve such pleasure. Prudence accompanies them when they write, no matter how often it has been an ungrateful companion. But, for moments like today, I believe, as Morrissey said, that prudence never pays.
I say all this because the account of what we experienced musically tonight might seem like payment for the gratitude of a smile or the desire for flirtation that rarely works in music reporters. Anyway, here's how it goes: Today I'd like to say that the Chilean band Miss Garrison It is clearly on the path to becoming a landmark, to say that these days of the present and those to come belong to him in a sonic and visual way with a clarity that few proposals on the continent could claim.
Their performance at the Hermoso Ruido Festival in Bogotá left an audience unfamiliar with them speechless. Fran Straube, the excitingly rugged front image of the band, She took to the stage in pursuit of her personal ecstasy, disregarding the wishes of the audience. She did so with the confidence of knowing she had a large enough following to disregard the limited aspirations of the public. He knows he's going to give more than expected, and his job is to fill himself with enough personal pleasure to capture everyone's attention. Mind you, I would never say that any of the members of Miss Garrison are arrogant or think they're above the audience. It's simply that each one knows that The delight will reach its peak first in your mind, regardless of whether there are 10 or 100,000 people in front.
Miss Garrison's sound is made up of dark layers that jump one on top of the other, seeking that little death that we all unwittingly long for, where Straube's voice, which quickly alternates between drums, electronic percussion and keyboards, is yet another texture, the most seductive of all, the one that points the way to his daring, damned trip hop that, as the minutes pass, tightens our stomachs, Knowing that we will soon be captive prey for as long as the gentle sonic poison bites our ears. Miss Garrison makes music of the present century knowing that His songs ride the vanguard without a crude need to please all listeners. Those who allow themselves to do so will know that the reward of the proposed trip will be the unexpected celebration., the deep treasure that we rarely find, the one that supersedes all the obvious things that the music market offends us with every day and tries to envelop us. Miss Garrison is a story of risk over prudence, And that is why the time has come to recognize the beauty they are building before us.

Postscript: A little over a year ago, on our now-defunct radio program on Konradio, we had the pleasure of interviewing Fran Straube. We're happy to share those moments with you all again.
