Her name is Francisca Bascuñán, she is a singer, songwriter, producer and sound engineer, and after going through various local projects, some recognized such as Lulu Jam, He decided to start his solo career in 2011. Since then, the career of this Chilean artist, who performs under the name of Entropica, She has been very prolific, releasing a good number of EPs and albums that have been well-received by fans. Among her curious and eye-catching promotions are her unique sales formats, unlike anything else on the market., among which we can find "Entropichapita" from their first EP Entropica which is presented in MP3 player pin format. For sale Nuclear Girl Entropica created mini discs and cassettes for distribution.

His style is sensual, well-made electronic pop., with emotive textures and a meticulous development in its blends. Entropica recently launched on digital platforms Shapes, an 11-song album that stands out for its exquisiteness and elegance, Made to be enjoyed on the dance floor and in private (It all comes down to volume, when it comes down to it). This was our conversation about it:

How would you define your sound?
At its core, I think it's electronic pop, but with elements of hip hop, rap, soul, and a bit of pure electronica.

How do you feel your music has evolved since you started as a solo artist?
I think Entropica has grown steadily, building on a solid foundation in both its music and aesthetics. This has undoubtedly been reflected in the audience that follows the project, broadening the spectrum of listeners thanks to the fusion of more alternative styles with harder pop. For example, the first album is very tender but with electronic beats, sometimes a bit edgy with soft chords. Over time, I've learned to showcase more of my musical facets, the other styles I enjoy, and the sounds I've been able to achieve. I think that's been the most important growth as a producer and singer: daring to reveal my different layers.

Layers? What an interesting concept, how would you define it?
I have a theory that people are made up of layers, like cabbages full of surprises in different aspects. In my case, it's like the musical styles I love, which sometimes develop in layers and then suddenly emerge.

Your new album, Shapes, What layers did he have to unveil to achieve this result?
I think it's definitely my more R&B side, which I hadn't shown on other albums. The preference for making songs at 100 bpm instead of 120 bpm. Slowing it down a bit is more difficult, and I think it was a good exercise that my friend Lainus (my musical partner on this album) put me through.

What albums have you hooked right now?
Missy Elliott – Iconology
Autechre – Montreal
Locomia – Locovox
Charly Garcia – Piano Bar

Let's talk about your aesthetic in general. It carries a very personal message, how would you describe it?
My goal with Entropica is to convey the message of not labeling people in any way. I believe that divisions and discrimination begin when a person's abilities are determined by their sexual orientation, gender, or preferences, instead of viewing them as a whole person. I believe that this must stop, and that's one of the driving forces behind Entropica, through music, lyrics, and aesthetics.

At times it becomes quite explicit, like the cover of your vinyl record Inside
But that album cover is about something else. That album is the most stripped-down thing I've ever done, and I think it has to do with what I was going through at that time, like  “I’m going to show you this side of me that nobody dares to show” . Although it might be interpreted in a more "sexual" way, it has nothing to do with that; it's more conceptual. In fact, Apollonia created it with that in mind. She listened to the songs and showed me that drawing, and I found her vision perfect.

How would you describe your current musical moment?
Ugh, that's difficult. I don't know, I think that's something the people who listen to my music could answer. I just try to make different albums; I hate repeating myself, and that has definitely helped me grow as a musician. I'm in a higher creative position now. I like the music I make, and I've had some great concerts and received good recognition for my work.

What's in store for the near future?
In October I'll be playing some dates in Berlin and Sweden, and I'll be part of the Womex festival in Finland. Here in Chile, I'm playing on September 26th at La Batuta, where I'll be presenting my new album. Shapes.
