December brought musical surprises beyond the usual party anthems of the season. Just a few weeks ago, we had the opportunity to listen to the debut album from an Argentinian duo called France (yes, like that, written differently from the European country) which, in truth, brings with it a refreshing musical air. Francisca Moreno Quintana and Ignacio Albini, founding members of this relaxing pop project, Perfect for kicking off the intense nights of the Southern Hemisphere summer, they present an album of nine songs built with diverse and deep digital sounds, reverberated vocals, and uncomplicated drum machines that They manage to make each tune easily accessible to the listener and invite them on a pleasant and contagious sonic journey. We took advantage of the beginning of the year to contact Albini, who responded directly and in his own unique mystical language to the questions that arose from repeatedly listening to his work:
In your own words, what does France sound like?
Fransia is epic pop that sounds like what's between the two of us.
And what's going on between you two?
A connection that comes to bring a message to the world.
That sounds messianic, or what's it about?
We have a mission to try to incorporate metaphysical concepts that cannot be easily explained but can be experienced in the body through our music and our shows.
What musical influences do they recognize?
Our biggest influence is 80s synth pop fused with a search for sounds towards the future.
In terms of sound, how would you personally describe the future?
The future lies in the sounds we create and use through synthesis. For us, it's about bringing sounds from space, frequencies of dolphins, angels, and so on down to earth. All of this is done with a defined style, translated into song so we can communicate with our audience in an increasingly perceptible and expansive way.
I remain intrigued by their messages to the world, and I also want to understand how they perceive the present. What are their feelings about the current events that surround them?
We currently live in the technological mindset, disconnected from one another, losing power as we drift toward the virtual. We buy and sell lies because we're afraid to embrace our own individuality. When we lose the fear of being who we truly are, the truth will emerge. And this truth is happening right now: in this world that is planet Earth. We propose to help people, through our music and artistic expression, to find their purpose on this plane, to connect with their hearts, and to live their own truth.
Do your followers understand your message or do they only connect with you because of your musical results?
It's amazing how more and more people are starting to receive our message so clearly. Music is the medium, and, let's say, the most direct way. But when they listen to our songs, or see us live, we receive feedback that's perfectly in tune with what we want to convey. And that happens without us saying a word. In a language that involves our bodies, our presence, and genuine emotion, people feel that when they leave a show, they have to process the information. That they're expanding, that it's a collective experience, and that they're receiving information from us that comes from above and is much bigger than anything else.
Above?
Up, speaking in linear terms. There isn't really an up or down. We mean that we are musicians and artists; it's the medium we were given. And we function as a great channel through which people resonate when they hear and see us. We are giving something that isn't so much about us as it is about something bigger, from other planes.
After the recent release of your album, what promotional plans are next?
Touring the country showcasing our show and performance. We also have plans to tour South America. In the meantime, we'll continue composing and creating visual content.
