At the end of 2001, the Peruvian band R3set They were one of the sensations of Latin American heavy rock. They had released their album Be born and they immediately caught the attention of fans of the genre across the continent. Their videos were in heavy rotation on MTV (it was the channel's heyday). and his performances were frequently held in Chile, Colombia and, of course, in his native Peru. Shortly afterwards, the international magazine Rolling Stone This established R3SET as one of the best bands in the hemisphere. But the quartet's career came to a sudden halt, and each member pursued various professional activities, leaving their band in the dustbin of history, except for the occasional nostalgic reunion.

In 2018 they decided to return to the studio and released their single Sick humanity, And with that song they returned to the scene. Now, at the beginning of this year, they have released their album. Rebirth, A finely crafted album that recaptures the original strength and evolves it, surely to the delight of fans of all generations of heavy rock. In light of this event, we decided to talk to them to get details of what happened:

What is the reason for your return, after so long?
We felt we owed something to our fans and to ourselves. We left many gaps that we felt we had to fill, and finally that moment arrived, and we did it. And here we are!

What made them step away from the artistic scene?
We started going our separate ways and had to make some tough decisions, one of which was to put the band on hold for over 11 years.

During all this time, didn't you miss the stage, the tours, recording in the studio?
That's why we came back; we really missed the connection with the people, the adrenaline rush of every performance, and above all, we had so much more to say…

What do they have to say, after all this time?
Music is healing; there is always a next day, a new opportunity to find true meaning in life. REBIRTH It is resilience, it is hope, continuing to dream and not stopping until finding the peace necessary to share it with others.

How would you describe the sound of this new album? How does it differ from your previous work?
There's a very clear musical evolution in these new tracks. We've moved away from overusing technology and embraced a more organic and pure recording process. Ricardo Méndez, the band's guitarist and also the producer of this new album, guided the entire creative process with a calm and pressure-free approach. We wanted the album's sound to reflect our live shows.

What's coming up in the next few days?
We'll be recording the video soon. Immortal, which would be the third single from this new album. We'll have two shows in Lima in February and March and we'll be preparing for the official launch concert of REBIRTH at the end of April. We'll also have a livestream soon.

Finally, how do you think new generations will connect with your music?
We played four shows in the last two years, sort of breaks while we finished the studio work, and during those gigs the reception from the crowd was incredible. The vast majority were new fans who had heard about our early work but hadn't had the chance to see us live…
