Perhaps the cure for all our sorrows of this time lies in dancing. In feeling the music at high volume in the middle of the dance floor and starting to move our bodies as if our lives depended on it. Feel the beat and accompany its intensity with each pulse in our skin. Perhaps much of what we're looking for to feel better lies in a revolution of the body, in every sense of the word. That's why we like it so much. 119, the artist's new EP Jazmín Mazzuchelli, Argentine resident in the city of La Plata, who, after publishing an interesting compilation of less intense songs curiously titled 118, has decided in 2021 to delve deeper into electronics and release tracks ready to ignite that revelry we so desperately need. Her music is socially conscious pop, a dance that doesn't deny nostalgia or disenchantment with the world around us. It's committed music that doesn't shy away from the ceremony of life's celebration. We contacted Mazzuchelli, founder of her own label, Gema Discos, a company that defines itself as "transfeminist", To learn more about their sound and their present and future artistic intentions:

How would you describe the sound of your new production?
I think describing it involves more talking about the intention behind its production. What matters to me is being able to express, to talk about what I'm going through without it becoming solemn. That's why it's closely related to dance music, to what dance means to people. But I don't know if I could simply categorize it as "dance music" either.

It's dance music, but with unusual lyrics for that type of project…
Of course, it's the identity I feel represents me. Chatting with my cousin, who's my image consultant, we like to say that the songs that make you cry and dance are the most beautiful, hehehe.

I like that definition. And besides, we're living in times with plenty of reasons for all of that… Do you think inviting someone to dance is liberating?
Yes, absolutely, in fact I think it has a cathartic reason that is unavoidable.

Your previous EP is more laid-back. What made you evolve towards electronic music?
The need to produce music that can play on its own, without depending on the timings of the Furthermore, and returning to the subject of solemnity, to leave that place that the "la" or "le" sometimes occupies «Cantaurtorx«"It's also the music I currently enjoy listening to and producing the most; it's the environment where I've felt most at ease since I started making music, especially because of the ability to download ideas and listen to them instantly, thanks to the software." Ableton Live, which is the one I use to produce.

What are your current musical influences?
My initial influences were always Luis Alberto Spinetta, Charly García, Juana Molina, Daft Punk, and Gorillaz, in all their facets, from their most acoustic work and lyrics to their instruments and the effects they use to process sounds. Now that I'm more involved with the world of electronic music, I like to look for inspiration in Detroit Techno: Underground Resistance, Robert Hood, Mad Mike, Jeff Miles, among others. others. Currently, on one hand there's a producer called Lone and on the other hand Miranda from Argentina, a band I've listened to since I was very little and that has always been very good for me.

Have you already performed these songs live?
Not entirely, just a hint. I played twice this year and gave a preview of what will be the final set for the album launch on April 3rd.

What will the show be like?
The show will be managed by Gema Discos, which, in addition to being a record label, also functions as an interdisciplinary artists' collective. colleagues They will be transforming the space with different proposals related to the album's aesthetic. The most important thing is to create an environment that fosters a sense of well-being. comfortable and to be able to enjoy the music and fiction that combine both the visual and scenic aspects as well as the musical ones.
