Bomba Estéreo surprise with Sunrise, A compact, well-produced album, designed to open doors for them in a much more international market, a record clearly made to break out of the indie mold and enter something I dare to call Ethnic Pop. Musically, I perceive African rhythms mixed with cumbias, champetas, and the omnipresent, and I assume, necessary element of EDM.
Upon hearing Sunrise, The first thing that comes to mind is that it's a mature album. Mature and romantic, an album with hit after hit, designed to please. It sounds like the old Bomba, only now it's more polished, amplified, and powerful.
There's something for everyone: pop ballads for rebellious teenagers and dance songs that make you want to move your hips and have a good time. Above all Sunrise It's an album for that: to fall in love, to dance, and to enjoy. And although I won't deny that it took me a while to warm to it at first, in the end it won me over. This is an album that surprises and pleases, with many musical layers that make it diverse, almost all-terrain. Give it a listen and tell me what you think.
Enjoy!
