The power of reggae has illuminated the entire planet for over 30 years. And rightly so, being so close to Jamaica and sharing the same ocean, an intense light from that powerful ray reached and marked Colombian music. Some experts say there are almost as many reggae bands as metal projects in this region. And while that statement may sound exaggerated, we can say that several groups born in Colombia have gained a significant following, especially in Bogotá, Medellín, Cartagena, and San Andrés Island. Among the newer generations, one of the best examples is... Caribbean Selecta Sound.

The Caribbean, who just released their EP Ready Dready Ready It respects the genre's original sound while also evolving it and presenting it as belonging to the twenty-first century. The studio work is solid, and the mixing is expertly crafted. The title track, with its infectious funk influence, has all the makings of a hit with commercial radio programmers and could easily find airplay on stations worldwide. In short, La Caribbean debuts in the music industry with a strong export product, rooted in Kingston but confidently developed in Colombia.
