2024 begins, and we venture to propose to you a mental journey of dense textures, heavy distortions and hallucinatory atmospheres, Made by the best bands of Doom, Stoner, Sludge, Psych and Postmetal Rock last year in Latin America according to the digital magazine Doomed and Stoned, based in Mexico City. This specialized site has been doing selection work in Bandcamp since 2018 and has earned the respect of the community related to this set of musical genres of our continent. This time they're releasing a mega album of one hundred songs (yes, ma'am, 100), adding up to many hours of production done in Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Puerto Rico, Peru, Costa Rica, the United States, and Colombia.
This album, released two weeks ago, has quite a few interesting moments, among which we can include the mix of minimal techno and space rock by the Chilean band. Follakzoid, call VI, an extensive track of almost eighteen minutes in length (the longest on the compilation), which confirms the brilliant moment of this group, attached to the label Sacred Bones, who has successfully performed on various stages around the world. Thus, we can also hear All is one, from the Colombian trio Balthvs, Perhaps the most sweetly psychedelic moment of the compilation, a kind of auditory respite amidst the resounding storm that rumbles throughout the journey. Another highlight is Deep inside, from the Argentinian group Poseidotic, A brilliant guitar performance, accompanied by a deep, distorted bass, plays deliciously between light and shadow. Another track worth mentioning is the one featuring the Brazilians. Chant of the Goddess, Perhaps the most strident minutes on the album, doom metal at its finest, released under the suggestive title of Enjoy the sin, whose final mix aggressively plays with the most deafening high frequencies, without losing the bulk of its execution. Here are a hundred examples of select noise not suitable for the faint of heart.
Yes, it's only January 2nd., And we are proposing that you embark on a very intense sonic excursion, a trek that may require an auditory effort that not many are used to, but it is surely the opportunity that some of our friends were looking for, those who were eager to experience new border vibrations, made in current times. Perhaps some of you aspire to contradict the optimism of some naive souls, or belong to the group of people looking to give a new soundtrack to your own definition of hell. Perhaps others, a little less melodramatic, need to update their collection and download (it's free, although the link offers an option to donate for such a laudable task of selection) this mountain of recordings, made from coast to coast of our continent. In any case, welcome and happy 2024.
