Every time we go to Bandcamp, We look for material that surprises us, that tells us about what's being prepared in the garages, bedrooms, and rehearsal rooms of each of our cities. And that, very possibly, few people know about yet, only friends (and those who still live in the family home, and those their parents can tolerate). In this section, we play at predicting the future., through those who want to break the mold of current sound, or those who intend to surprise rather than win over the masses. This section, for the members of Zonagirante.com, is the construction of a sonic journey that serves as a fortunate warning, perhaps hoping that you'll say of us that it was here you first heard these names and these recordings. We're being pretentious, aren't we? Likewise, I hope you enjoy this new journey, with three new plates from Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil:
Fifth column – Bring from tomorrow
The artist's description on their Bandcamp profile reads as follows: «"Quintacolumna is the pseudonym under which Patricio Díaz composes and produces music with collaborators and performers since 2011"«"This Argentinian musician is a very pleasant surprise when it comes to presenting his new seven-track EP.", because its sound content proposes a kind of noisy tranquility, where the instrumentation seeks experimental textures which, departing from the norm of contemporary pop-rock, manages to present moving songs. Díaz achieves the spectacular nature of his recordings by delving into the possibilities of resonant exploration and, although it may sound bombastic, His thing is taking us on a journey to parallel planets, where perhaps we share the same concerns we experience in this present world, but everything is approached differently. The artist surely starts from the basics, from the simplicity of the initial melody, and from there, It knows how to make the result more complex without losing the original essence, but making everything we see (and hear) feel disparate and unexpected.. Although the entire collection of tunes is fascinating, songs like Sensual dance, Leaving the body y Nothing to… This album can be described as dazzling and heartwarming., emotions not very easy to find these days.
Ian Lampel – The Sound of Ramirez Shore (double single)
Now we go to the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, where the idea is to dance and, at the same time, look happily and bewildered at the musician responsible for what we are hearing, since he has set up a laboratory with elements from jazz, drum & bass, candombe, and some other Rioplatense flavors, where nostalgia becomes festive and contagious. Ian Lampel, music producer, composer, beatmaker and sound designer, born in Montevideo, It makes fusion an art that is constantly renewed and requires breaking with the obviousness in which many artists, Due to fashion and complacency, they have inevitably fallen. The time has passed when the combination of folklore and contemporary style was simply a matter of one plus one equaling two. Now, that mathematical equation... We must add a more complex, more interesting, more sudden curiosity, so that it feels like there is something in this addition that we haven't heard before. The truth is that Lampel clearly understands it.
kLap – NK Sounds Vol. II
And finally we landed in Brasilia And we know kLap, who says he has a lot of experience within the Bass Music scene in his country. His thing is to feed off many tropical rhythms, which come from the Caribbean, India, and Africa and from where I can find essences that explode on the dance floor. This reminds us of something a cheerful, clueless person once told us, warning us that it's not worth making fun of trendy rhythms, the ones that explode every minute in nightclubs around the world., Because from there someone, much more intelligent, will extract gold in an alchemical work that no one expects. The mission is to go further, to break the cycle, to impose a new commotion so that the previous one will irremediably atrophy. Here the objective is achieved, in a very fun way.
