Let's go to Quito, Ecuador, to listen to a band with folk intentions, which, in the middle of its tunes, uses examples of Latin American folklore, without ever losing the contemporary freshness or the desire to contact a new audience. This is a calm production that achieves an interesting and balanced mix. The vocal arrangements are striking, as the use of reverb amidst the acoustic instruments allows the band to closely resemble current trends without sacrificing their unique sound. Let's return to the noise and now travel to San José, Costa Rica, where, whenever we can, we highlight the interesting alternative music scene thriving in that city. In this case, we have a group that knows how to draw inspiration from artists as diverse as Gary Numan, Jesus Lizard, and Gang of Four. His sound is unconventional, rather risky, which, nevertheless, ends up creating well-rounded compositions, without losing its seductive darkness. Don't look for vocal flourishes or cheerful songs here. Instead, expect, amidst unexpected elegance, corrosive and uncompromising performances. A fine piece of work.
