Lautaro Feldman – There are no witnesses
Perhaps this isn't the album some, seeking intense emotions, are hoping to hear, but the truth is that this material, recently released in Buenos Aires, Argentina, offers what many want to hear on any quiet afternoon, that is to say, Good songs with finely crafted melodies and exquisite vocals, recorded to uplift the listener's spirit. Yes, it sounds just like that, and it might seem like a cheesy description, but that's exactly how we feel about this album, which contains six guitar-driven songs with simple, direct lyrics and a production that perfectly places each element to create the desired sound and complete the overall experience. Another noteworthy detail: three of the tracks feature special guests, including the Peruvian band... Alejandro and Maria Laura y The la, and the Colombian women The Añez family. In short, this is a compilation of sensitive compositions that can be played at a good volume on your stereo, ready to help you deal with melancholy.
Filter Fauna – Filter Fauna
Let's begin with the self-presentation of the author of this record production: «"Filter Fauna is Anderson Lucero – Anderson Lucero is not Filter Fauna. Filter Fauna is not a band, not a solo artist, it's a musical laboratory, with no affinity for styles or genres. Filter Fauna believes that some songs are channeled from a place other than Earth. Filter Fauna had orange juice and scrambled eggs for breakfast today.". In short, the Bandcamp platform, which we always turn to for writing this section, is full of characters like this. But, unlike many, this Bogota native, with his languid voice and eclectic sound in his recordings, where it has very varied moments that go from cumbia to indie pop and from hip hop to the romantic ballad of the seventies, it does it well, in its own particular and unorthodox way, but achieves a fun and striking repertoire. We don't know this person personally, but he surely has a catalog of eccentric behaviors worth observing. For now, while we try to contact him, here is his seven-song journey.
Picture – A June Afternoon
Another oddball who presents himself to his potential audience with an unexpected speech: «"I'm here literally because I heard Skrillex in 2011 and downloaded Ableton.". Another one who decided to make music from his bedroom, without any major fanfare, and manages to present an attractive and captivating production, which, No matter what conditions it was produced under, it can be listened to anywhere on the planet without complaint. From San José, Costa Rica, comes a splendid album with eight tracks that we can boldly label as "electronic indie pop," perfectly in tune with the times, without the need for pompous introductions or complicated structures, and perhaps much cheaper than we imagine. What we hear throughout its length is a work crafted with good humor, intelligence, and an honest, fearless pursuit of well-deserved recognition in the Latin American independent music scene.
