Tiger King – Pull the Goat Sessions
A pleasant surprise comes from Costa Rica. Joel Obando, under the name Rey Tigre, simply recorded four songs with his acoustic guitar for the local podcast. Pull the Goat and decides to make them available to the public free of charge (if the listener so desires). His style is languid, dark, and deliberate, but definitely captivating and direct. The work is simple, just two microphones and that's it, but it captures, adding a very pleasant natural reverberation, a kind and perceptible spirit that achieves melodies with poetic lyrics and sensitive construction. A great moment: The incredibly slow and contradictory cover of Life is a carnival, by teacher Celia Cruz.
Crocodile – The Puya
Dear reader, go and find your musical blender again and get the following ingredients: On one hand, have a good portion of tropical abandon, made at the speed of the climax of a euphoric midnight ceremony. To that, add psychedelic electronic sounds that add mystery to the sustained atmosphere. The result, if you have carefully followed the instructions, will be a frenetic four-minute, twenty-six-second act. where, we hope, it got the crowd gathered around it dancing and sweating to celebrate that brief moment of ecstasy. That, in a nutshell, is what this Bogota-based project offers, whose promotional single invites us not only to dance but also to somehow renew the way fusion is done around here. Good job.
Dark – Nomads
From Rio Cuarto, Córdoba province, Argentina, comes this intense sound and sharp vocals, reminiscent of stoner rock. This EP features deep riffs throughout its recording. Made to get away for a little over twenty-six minutes from the banal noises of the planet and take on a vehement journey that is worth sailing. Good material to return to, as we usually do on the good days we have left, to trust in rock and believe that still, even if it is under the desert stones, we can find a little hope in a better world.
