Upon returning from our Christmas break, we set about enjoying once again what our favorite music platform had to offer., Bandcamp, to discover new developments in the underground paths of sound, which, in many cases, may undeservedly go unnoticed. Instead of wasting time paying attention to celebrity gossip and the lurid stories of some couples who fail and blame each other for their resounding and costly mistakes, we prefer to delve into more mysterious and surprising corners that, in our (according to some resentful) "eccentric" opinion, deserve a few minutes of attention. Perhaps it's time, once again, to confirm that the underground It can be more fun than what we hear exploding excessively from all the speakers around us. 2023 looks promising for hidden recordings.

UltraPersonGalerie des Machines

This is a couple from Bogotá who present themselves in their biography as musicians who have dedicated their last few years to composing and recording for television and the film industry. But, as we can hear, They had time to create more intimate and daring material, in search, as they explain, "of an eclectic audience.". Their music is not, obviously, aimed at large audiences, but they manage to convey a sensitivity that any listener with patience and curiosity can feel from the first note. In this album we find 6 tracks approached from different paths, which can explore textures of rock, folk, and electronic music., where the noise intensity passes through peaks and waves of different auditory climates. The "most normal" tune is Space, It's a recording with soft guitar, a melody reminiscent of Andean music, but its mix is unconventional, created within a complementary experimental atmosphere. Perhaps the listener will find a comfortable, familiar moment there. But the most interesting aspect, in our opinion, lies elsewhere. Our favorite moment was found in Mars, The fourth track, when the voice shines the most, and the atmosphere is the most psychedelic. This is a tune that feels like a delightful roller coaster riding on a cloud, with exquisite placement of the instrumental parts that envelop us for a little over three minutes. Overall, Galerie des Machines It is a beautiful record, which we hope will be well received by the Latin American audience.

Goodbye SummerMaze

We can't forget Costa Rica. We've said it on several occasions: This Central American country has a small but undeniably rich music scene. Its rock, in all its contemporary variations, offers very interesting examples of musical expression and development. To confirm this, we have a brand-new example. With just two songs, this Costa Rican trio already demonstrates its corrosive power and its desire to make its audience bang the walls every time they play on the stereo or in personal headphones. This is a happy combination of punk, noise and shoegaze, all packed into a lo-fi recording, full of sharp guitars and raspy vocals., ready to be celebrated in any rock and roll garage, with a good cold beer in hand.

Slaughter Front Fuzz inside

We're embarrassed to start this review by saying we know almost nothing about this band. Despite our extensive research, we haven't found much. An Instagram account full of bizarre photos, beautiful album covers, and vague hints of her residence in Buenos Aires, Argentina. And yet, we have absolutely no regrets about presenting their impressive album, an unmissable gem among the new stoner rock offerings from the continent. This is an exquisite work comprising nine tracks of dense textures, which must be listened to at very high volume to fully embrace the inevitable psychedelia that will envelop the listener. But be warned, this is not just conventional distortion and euphoria. Here other unforeseen threads are exposed, as elements of jazz (there's a trumpet, imagine!!!), punk and folk are added. This is immersive intensity at its finest. And the vocals? The comparison might be odd, but they remind us of Adrián Dárgelos in his prime. In short, this is a thrilling album that we hope will soon be added to your list of favorites.
