As you already know, part of the time we invest in musical research at Zonagirante.com is focused on reviewing new record releases that we discover on Bandcamp.com. Today we embarked on the path of the evolution of electronic fusion with the native rhythms and genres of our geography. Although they have different sounds and production approaches, in these two examples that we will present below we have found a very interesting line andin which the latest technology machines play and successfully attempt to become part of the native structure to which they are added. This isn't simply sampling and integrating folk elements into a primarily contemporary recording. It's, if you'll allow a simile—perhaps clumsy in its presentation—like setting up a recording studio where tradition resides and encouraging the circuits to integrate and blend seamlessly with the environment and nature. Surprises that span the entire continent and that we are thrilled to share with you all:
Biomigrant & The Mountain Within – Feathered Voice EP
The story of this project begins with a meeting between Michael Alfred Wagner, an American producer and multi-instrumentalist living in Colombia, and a recently formed collective of Mexican folk musicians from Veracruz, Mexico. Their first encounter resulted in a compilation of five impeccable songs. where we don't know whether to talk about the evolution of son jarocho towards textures present in the 21st century, or about the respectful integration of beats into centuries-old traditions, Creating harmony, not conflict, with ancestral essences. The mix is splendid, placing each instrument, acoustic or electronic, in its proper place, resulting in a production that can easily reach the ears of those who seek out musical innovations with an avant-garde spirit and respect for original foundations.
Ahau – Explorasol
We opened this artist's official Instagram account and, as an introduction to his biography, we found the following sentence: The Earth dances to Downtempo and Afro House. From there, this musician, who grew up in southern Chile, introduces us to his work, which combines house, techno, chill, and jungle with the sonic textures of the rainforest at the origin (or end, depending on the map we choose) of the Andes Mountains. These two tracks could ignite any dance floor on the planet, but..., However, they certainly stand out from the often impersonal offerings of DJs and producers from Europe and the United States. Fortunately, their music is infused with ethnic fervor and local flavor.. The artist concludes his personal introduction by saying: Always in search of the new sun. That's reason enough to listen to his recording.
