The Brigid Orchestra Sepia Songs

The soundtrack for this hypothetical film, compiled in four tracks and lasting only 16 minutes, It begins with the beautiful voice of Ana Tijoux singing in French (special guest), Meanwhile, from the beginning, we imagined that this catalog of tunes would be part of an urban song of the southern autumn, perhaps inspired by films from the late fifties and early sixties, Urban stories told by Godard or Truffaut. Suddenly, the MC's flow kicks in, and the elegance is modernized., It moves to our neighborhoods, without losing its style, without discouraging the initial melancholy or disguising the climatic aroma of the era we imagine. This is jazz with references from six or seven decades ago, combined with nostalgic hip hop, perfect for a rainy day. It's a slow, mellow vibe, enlivened with Rhodes pianos., and bronzes and brasses that become a sunset dream, And the rhyme completes the picture of a reality that could have been experienced in the middle of the last century or at this very moment in Santiago de Chile, or in any city we know, where there is still a spirit of love and of undoing the current anger.

Elephant Rubber Sweets and Acids

It's time to have fun, turn the volume up all the way, and jump around the house shamelessly, as if we'd won the lottery, or just because, We were overcome with the urge to mess with the fussy neighbor who always complains about the noise from our stereo. This quartet, fronted by the beautiful Letz, who sings with a smile that underlines the notes, It reminds us of the carefree spirit of classic groups like the B 52's or The Go-Go's, But with an unexpected tropical humor, a joy that can only exist on this side of the world. And yes, this is a rawer, more lo-fi punk pop, but that, contrary to expectations, We love it even more. This band from São Paulo is further proof of everything we're missing out on from that great giant next door called Brazil, a friendly, festive monster within its borders It may contain the best musical portfolio on the continent and we haven't realized it yet.

Chechi de MarcosHope/Never leave home

Did you jump enough? Now rest, lie down and use your headphones to get away from everything you experienced just a couple of minutes ago., and return to longing, in a very personal way. It's only two songs, but perhaps the same thing will happen to you as happened to us: we can't stop listening to the Argentinian Chechi de Marcos., and even more so when N playsNever leave home. Yes, if you have a frozen heart, you might say this is the typical love and abandonment song that's common in indie folk these days, but no, There is a particular beauty here. Let's begin with De Marcos' voice and lyrics. It's a tender voice, very tender, with an overwhelming personality., who knows how to tell pieces of his life in just a few minutes, captivating us with his elegant and charming drama.  Furthermore, at first it may seem that all this is a simple production, without major risks, but the apparent simplicity is deceiving, and after listening to each tune several times, We began to enjoy the details behind it, the brilliant instrumentation that underpins the entire project, the fine vocal dubbing using the vocoder, the careful blending of the entire environment. It barely lasts six minutes., But here is one of the best productions we've heard this year.
