Pahua This is the new project of Pau Sotomayor, a Mexican singer, songwriter, and DJ who, as she herself describes on her social media profile, has a sound that is «"A blend of electronica and folklore that represents a very intimate part of her: femininity, nature, inner strength, and self-discovery"». His first five-song EP was called The Cure, released by the record label National Records, It is a small collection of musical vignettes, gallant expressions of mixtures of tropical musical genres with a desire to be played at sophisticated parties, those where commotion is replaced by subtlety, where there is more room for visual detail and for elegance to have its deserved share of attention.
This compilation, which lasts just over fifteen minutes in its entirety, It combines Caribbean sounds, Hispanic acoustic moments, some moments that can be described as jazzy, a certain essence from hip hop, and elements of contemporary electronica creating a joyful atmosphere, with a scent that seems perfect for kicking off a big beach celebration. The production features prominent guests, such as the Spanish artist Gizmo Rods, the Cuban The White Lady, and the Costa Rican Barzo, who is an important part of the most striking track on the EP, The rattling, a recording that immediately sticks in the listener's memory, for its beautiful melody, and an unforgettable flute.
The Cure It's a stylized album, but that doesn't make it innocent or fragile. This is fusion made without the pressure of big contrasts of revelry or the pressure of stirring up the public on the dance floor. This is where the desires begin. Pahua's work is worthy of being listened to with a good cocktail in hand, perhaps while designing the pleasure the audience seeks later in the day. These five songs are ready to become part of the soundtrack to that first afternoon kiss., the one who opens up the possibilities of the night.
