In our imaginations (and our ears), we flew over the Atlantic Ocean to find, upon landing, what some continental compatriots are doing in musical matters on the other side of the pond. And the truth is we have two great examples of fun, stimulating and different art. Two albums that break the routine, with impeccable production, and that could be candidates to be named among the best of this year. Let's begin:

The CourettesThe soul of… The fabulous Courettes

Here we find the curious symbiosis between Flavia (Brazilian, guitar and vocals, formerly in Autoramas) and the Danish drummer Martin Couri. They come together and end up making a happy return to the sound textures of the 60s, that revitalizing blend of r&b, garage rock, blues, surf, Memories of the work of the infamous but unforgettable  Phil Spector, memories of Motown and hints of the most tender punk that resides in some of our neurons. It's the exciting return of the least expected couple to the finest aesthetics of Carnaby Street, The pedestrian street in London that became famous sixty years ago for its clothing stores and for being the meeting point for followers of the Mod style and musical groups such as The Beatles and the Stones. The Soul of… It is a wonderful compilation of 13 songs that adequately and firmly recovers An era of resounding elegance that brings its own joy and represents an era of aesthetic and social rebellion which we often dishonorably forget, and which is good to revisit, without forgetting the present, to live life our way. This new LP has been released through the legendary English label Damaged Goods Records, whose best moments can be heard in tunes like Shake!, Boom Boom Boom, California y Keep dancing. With The Courettes we can experience a kind of fictional nostalgia, recalling a remarkable era where distinction and good taste were paramount. They dared to break outdated molds and destabilize the system, as it was known at the time.

Carolina Donati I went to a party

Let's make the sound transition and now move to more pop environments. Let us be lulled by the unique voice of this composer, singer and guitarist from Buenos Aires, now residing in Madrid, Spain. This is an album that, without extreme outbursts, captivates with the details that build each of its eight songs., Made with a particular tenderness that narrates intimate stories, personal insecurities and heartbreaks that any of us could understand. It's a personal album, but one that a large part of the audience will be able to understand immediately. Likewise, it all begins with two recordings (I left the party y Craziness), perfect for starting any Friday night, to open the car windows and stick my head out to encourage the weekend's debauchery, unfurling the curtain of surprises in the night of any great city we know.

Amid the uncertainty that the text may convey, Donati, supported by a stylized and finely crafted instrumental construction, There is a good dose of encouragement there, perhaps hoping that, in the face of any possible disaster to come, it is better to think that better times are coming:

Let's go to sleep
Don't overthink it
I promise it can't go wrong
Love cannot be programmed
Pain cannot be avoided
tomorrow will be better
I'll stay until the end

In the end, This is a beautiful album, a record worth discovering and enjoying. The best moments? The opening tracks of the album,  Until the end and the final cut, Heart. Listen to these mere seventeen minutes of affection in stereo, They'll have a good time, I assure you.
