It's a principle that has been established since we started Zonagirante.com twenty years ago: The first thing that gets saved in a fire in our homes is the music. And of course, it always served as our compass, reaffirming our commitment since the founding of this page to the growing independent scene in Latin America. But, as soon as Covid-19 appeared and we were confined to our homes, we gradually realized that getting together to go to concerts or to meeting places with other artists was going to be postponed for a long time., We had to make that opening statement a reality, that which defines us in this journalistic work: To survive and weather the difficult times we live in, we had to invent projects in which we could reaffirm that music had to endure against all odds. That's why we created the label #naufragosencasa. Initially we used it to show a series of webcam interviews with people from the sector who told us about their quarantine experiences and their ideas for the future. But we felt that more needed to be done. It was necessary to demonstrate that good songs could still be born even under the circumstances, with musicians confined to their rooms, in some cases with fewer resources than usual., but upholding the creative spirit and the demand for quality in the construction of the recordings.
From there, and without going into too much detail about the process (in which the international company providing comprehensive services in music technology and marketing strongly collaborated with us) OneRpmWe put out a call among our contacts and received suggestions from friends who were experts in the field, who showed us new proposals that, just starting their careers, They were already showing clear signs of being at the forefront. Every time we received a new recording, we couldn't stop smiling; we were amazed by the result. This is an album with contemporary intentions, built upon textures. coming from rock, pop, electronic music, and local fusion and from sounds coming from hip hop, cumbia, jazz and other genres. This is an album that we've arranged to be listened to from beginning to end as a journey, or, if you prefer, A film with a solid plot ready to test the good state of music on this side of the world. Here we present fifteen jewels made a few days ago in Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina and Uruguay, which serve as testimony to quality artistic resistance in the face of the current panorama.
