🌱 Because love is written in unexpected ways
Don't you think that, from time to time, Do we get too tangled up when we want to express the things we want to say, especially when we talk about love?
Yes, it's just that when we want to talk and confess every desire we want to express when facing the person we care about, we overcomplicate things, don't you think? This is coming from a mature man, with the insecurities of my generation (and maybe adding one or two more). The same thing happens with Pop.
There is a kind of toxic resistance to anything that manages to be simplified, whether in forms or in sound textures.
We believe that, for the facts to be valid, they must involve a complex and difficult-to-resolve issue., a tangle that manages to confuse us and make us think that everything must be deciphered before being felt.
And that's where I remember a powerful line from a song by the Madrid band Los Ronaldos:«"Life is complicated and you want to make it more complicated.".
At times we want to see life as a riddle, and, in truth, sometimes we must accept that much of what we experience can be simpler. Does this speech seem corny to you? You're not alone; it's part of the guilt we acquire in adulthood and with which we will surely die.
I'm not going to give you false hope; this isn't a Paulo Coelho novel, thankfully. This is, rather, a review that chronicles my infatuation with a decidedly pop album, as it is It was the two of us., from the Argentinian group Ainda.
🎙 Inner voice, without labels that trap
Before this album, Ainda, the Argentine duo made up of Esmeralda Escalante and Yago Escrivá It was a fascinating project of exquisitely simple songs that instantly made these musicians endearing..
Now, with this release, Ainda faces a high risk, since the production implies a new stage that seems to simulate the evolution of indie pop as we can hear it in any alternative bar on the continent., wanting to sound as if they were participating in the San Remo festival.
The sonic essence of It was the two of us. It draws on a production influenced by the aesthetics of the 70s, enriched with orchestral arrangements that give it a cinematic feel. But, beware, the tender essence never, fortunately, dares to cross the borders of vulgarity.
The melodies and lyrics of Esmeralda and Yago continue to say what we would like to express, to get excited without feeling ashamed, helping us to uncomplicate the picture while we repeat this album on the stereo over and over again.
💭 Intimate nerve in shared words
This is a record with well-rounded, healthily pleasing tunes, always forceful. where splendid recordings stand out, such as Your loneliness and mine (made in company) by the Spanish musician Leiva), and the very cinematic ballad It's not love (a composition that could have been included in the soundtrack of any romantic comedy from fifty years ago).
The last one, The world likes you, It comes with fascinatingly Beatlesque wind arrangements. This is a perfect ending to an album that soothes hearts without filling us with silly and poisonous remorse.
Beauty is, sometimes, less complex than we think. This album confirms that. Perhaps you'll agree with me. I promise you'll at least have a good time listening to it.
