Good love songs don't need to become grandiose anthems, nor collections of tears whose brilliance must be visible to the ends of the earth. The desired grace It can be presented in a disorderly, untidy manner, without the need for personifications or melodramatic slowness. At times, all it takes is a dirty acoustic guitar covered in stickers and the few words that arrive at the precise moment.

The tireless Carlos Damián Rodríguez, better known in the music media at one time as Nekro, has put his project Boom boom kid in acoustic mode. It has launched Welcome: Rest Area, an album of 14 songs and barely 23 minutes in length, where the artist's traditional hardcore spirit is not lost, going straight to the heart with his uncompromising discourse and words that combine tenderness and rebellion as effectively as rarely before. Recorded in Buenos Aires at Juno Studios, owned by Babasónicos, with Gustavo Iglesias handling recording, mixing, and production., This disc houses small but effective, highly reverberated capsules, which sometimes seem written as urgent texts of WhatsApp, immersed in high-speed guitar performances, almost like a country singer fueled by amphetamines. In some tracks Nekro uses Rhoades-style keyboards to create sonic textures that add intensity to the recordings, and on a couple of occasions he uses electric strings, but overall this is material that seems to have been recorded in a single, frenetic session., like a sonic snapshot, hoping to be remembered as a sample of a specific day in the musician's life.

This is a brilliant album, with some thankfully bizarre moments and unforgettable instants as reflected in Yoni Cash, a swift tune paying homage to the famous "Man in Black", as well as in the rock and roll piece aptly named Ballad of a flawed original, and in the final minutes I sing off-key and I miss you, a very short clip where the author confirms that his struggle comes from his very core:

«"I will be your pillow when you want to rest, I will be your light when you no longer have it, I will be that noise when you want to hear, and something beyond what you can see with your eyes.".

In short, a good job without any fuss.
