We've told this story before, but as it unfolds, we like to revisit it. She, a Chilean student interested in music, goes to a concert in La Plata, Argentina, and there she meets a boy who has a band, they fall in love and decide to get together, travel and support themselves with the music they can make together. They spend some time in Mexico, performing wherever they can, and realize as the days go by that their true calling is to travel the world making songs and recording them on portable formats. They cross the Atlantic, tour Europe, based in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, and thus manage to share their music in hundreds of cultural centers, bars, small auditoriums, and other venues where they connect with an audience that, while perhaps not understanding their Spanish lyrics, came to love them for the endearing simplicity of their melodies and their exquisite way of embodying the fundamental principle of self-sufficient artists: Doing everything on their own (and with the help of friends they make along the way).
Late April, Infinite Ice Cream (that is, Loreta Neira and Víctor Bogert) release their third full-length album, with the beautiful name of Cancun Tokyo, A geographical fusion with the scent of a distant journey, surrounded by all kinds of people seeking comfort in direct and satisfying compositions. This album, a collection of ten songs with a duration just over half an hour, It is an eclectic production made in Bratislava, with a lo-fi spirit, where acoustic instruments, samplers, programmed drums and Loreta's voice are recorded, with her undeniable Santiago accent, emitting a serious and seductive tenderness that few singers achieve. Cancun Tokyo It's a varied album, sounding at times like synth-pop, at others like snatches of drum & bass, at others like modern samba, and at others like neo-soul. It's a compilation of calm, gentle, and beautiful recordings that tells an inspiring story for the whole planet and, more specifically, for those who believe it's possible to make life a constant journey., All it takes is the best possible company and the desire to make the best possible noise wherever night finds them.
