While the rest of the continent is barely recovering from the Christmas hangover and just beginning to shake off the last vestiges of year-end successes, in the Southern Cone, with the perfect excuse of believing that the sun shines brighter at this time of year and that fans' ears are open to new adventures, New record releases come out that give a breath of fresh air to our need for brand new songs. At least a good five-song EP, a compilation that barely reaches fifteen minutes in length, as it is Pure Mirror, from the Chilean band Solar Patio.
Let's begin the description of this gallant publication, stating a few points that allow us to compile a collection of enthusiastic arguments so that whoever deems it pertinent should listen to this little gem. The first thing to note is that this is a clean-sounding album, ready to be enjoyed in any relaxing space, whether it's on the beach, in the car on the road, or simply after a summer shower, ready to head out for some cold beers. Another point: It's a calm album, but it's not at all corny or superficial.. It's a freshness that's wrapped up in small carnivals (a perfect example of this is Abyss, (fourth track), but it avoids pomposity in its textual discourse. The striking presentation of the melodies may lead the listener to suspect that what is being said is perhaps inconsequential., But it speaks of moments of those small deaths that we experience every day, or of nostalgia for teenage carefree life. Likewise, they are everyday stories, the brief anxieties that each of us can experience. The light and shadows of our lives.
To top it all off, The instrumental work is playful, experimental, and seeks new resonances. It's pop, yes, but Patio Solar wants to leave a distinctive mark through its playful guitar work, its varied rhythms, and its exquisite vocals, and, truthfully, it succeeds. It's a short, summery album., but which can be epoch-making, thanks to its genuine audacity, which would surely appeal to the masses. A dose of indie goodness that plays for fifteen minutes in our headphones to make us feel better.
