Sometimes the euphoria we deserve to experience in life boils down to a single song that lasts no more than a minute and thirty-eight seconds. Play it over and over again. Enough, that short track included in Patio 29, the new album from the Chilean band Slowkiss, It's like feeling that hydromorphone injection they give in every hospital for severe pain, and that..., Once the needle goes in, it brings an immediate body glow that makes the blood rush to our mouths and makes us smile like instant happy fools. It's pure emotion, a journey of rage, pleasure, unbridled passion, and nervous frenzy. All in ninety-eight seconds. But the ecstasy doesn't stop there… There are nine more songs, all just as thrilling.

Thus, and in no other way, I begin the review of An album released to silence the skeptics and the distrustful who believed that today's artists could not capture and renew the rock spirit that is so sorely missed in such decadent times as these. This band, led by a petite girl named Elisa Montes, has powerfully blended that aroma of alternative sounds from the nineties, filtered them through the lens of good old punk, and evoked the shoegaze of the English underground bars and recover the old grunge that so captivated us at the time. Yes, it's like putting Alice in Chains, My Bloody Valentine, Lush, Siouxsie and the Banshees and La Polla Records in a blender, and the mixture brings us a flavor in keeping with the times. Yes, because Slowkiss sounds, without exaggeration, tremendously contemporary, outrageously current.

Patio 29 It's an album that should be repeated two, three, forty times in a single sitting, from beginning to end. It's a daring production, which, in the established order of its songs, It seems like a roller coaster that must be approached with desire, desperation, With a fury that we older folks never expected to hear from the younger generations. This album, as a friend who I'm sure will like it would say, is like a truck about to run us over, impossible to dodge.
