Latin American rock that has emerged in recent times It has been characterized by following an alternative indie path., In line with the trends shown to us from the North by the industry and with the tastes acquired by emerging consumer generations. This does not mean that it is the only thing being done, but it is the predominant trend. However, there are glimpses of it throughout the continent, lwhich is evident in bands that dare to continue unleashing their energy., giving us reasons to demolish our houses by jumping.
I found one of these cases with Dixie Goat, Chilean band composed of JP on drums, KF on bass and Nikk on vocals and guitar, who with their EP Even Demons Have Demons they give proof that Hard rock is still alive and kicking as hard as ever.
This self-produced work It is a perfect example of the American Southern sound that has been positioned within the world rock scene for years. with bands like Every Time I Die, Down, Corrosion of Conformity, among others, and which has converging influences of hardcore, rock and roll and sludge metal, concluding in a sound that is quite familiar and equally good. Guitars tuned to low tones, distorted riffs, and a continuous hammering of the drums are the predominant sounds in the four songs presented by these guys. who exude attitude in their performance, which gives us hard rockers hope and a neck ache like no boar from so much headbanging. They are heavy, they are dense, and they are very good.
There's not much to say, really. Their raw, visceral, and thick music is a very good example of that. You can make very good music without needing so many effects in the production and without pretensions of virtuosity. It's a simple, natural, organic work; that's what you'll hear when you give Dixie Goat a chance, and you'll keep listening until you get tired of jumping around. until an accident happens to them, hitting them in the back of the neck… And yet, this wonderful roar will continue to reverberate in his ears, awakening a desire to consume alarming quantities of Jack Daniels and to smoke every Marlboro he can find.“A breath of fresh smoke”, Corey Taylor would say.
Applause for Dixie Goat and her EP Even Demons Have Demons. I hope to enjoy their music more and have the opportunity to see them live sometime soon. because they should be a good old-fashioned rock show.
