VitaleBy José Gandue @Gandour

Some artists manage to transport us to places far removed from reality. They might be in the center of a great city, perhaps the most populated metropolis in the world, and, while performing one of their songs... to make us believe that we are resting in the middle of the hostile territory of a prairie from a western-style movie, Waiting for the next caravan to pass. Some try, others succeed. She belongs to the latter group. Salvatore Vitale.

This Mexican artist released his EP just a few days ago. Give us a kiss, a compilation of five songs framed within a style he calls "black country", and which we dare to describe as Somber wails of clear lands, suitable for long and winding solitary journeys, where hopelessness is an art and loneliness never ceases to mock us.

Vitale turns to his guitar and his voice to create tense atmospheres and tell stories of bitter love.. As is typical of this kind of artistic endeavor, the artist makes a rendezvous with the devil to seek companionship in desolate places, suggesting that being heard by the cursed figure is comforting. The sound design of this work is meticulous, subtle in its details, and avoids the exaggerations of the genre. The title track captivates the listener amidst the vocal reverberation., of a nostalgia that we know is harmful but whose poison we cannot help but enjoy. This, and what has been done in Be like you, Perhaps the most emboldened theme, containing a false joy that effectively confuses, are the best moments of the production.

This artist has brought us a surprisingly resonant body of work. Let's hope Salvatore Vitale doesn't lose momentum and continues to surprise us. with this brilliant handling of emotional darkness.
