More than a live session (which it is, it contains two songs, I want to see y Start overThis video is a kind of mini-documentary about the current state of the Mexican band Café Tacvba, which is celebrating its thirty-fourth anniversary and that still (who doubts it?) remains at the top of Latin American rock. The company responsible for producing this video material is Fender, one of the most prestigious musical instrument brands in the world, for over seventy years. It's a special that lasts less than fifteen minutes and includes a lot of archival footage, some interviews describing rituals within the group, and an interesting recording made at Living Sculpture Sanctuary, a tropical-themed space located in Davie, Florida., more geared towards the celebration of weddings and similar ceremonies rather than performances by world-class bands.
Of course, yes, it's obvious that the brand's guitars and basses will be very present throughout the recording., But the result is fun, insofar as you see a mature band, whose members (as some indiscreet aunts, of which there are in every family, would say) are already gentlemen. But, despite the passage of time, they continue to strive to set the standard on the scene, and they continue to captivate the masses who have supported them so much over the last three decades. A striking detail is that the show was filmed with a single handheld camera, and there are no edited cuts during the session., except for the added pieces of statements and archival images from other moments of the group. The result has a "homemade" feel (not to be confused with low quality), which, we suspect, effectively brings the project even closer to those who wish to enjoy it. While we await what Cafe Tacvba has planned to release this year, this is, for them, a good way to start 2024.
