The most interesting musicians not only make brilliant songs, sonic material that invades our bodies and changes our perspective on the world for a few minutes, but also, They have great stories along their journey, personal experiences that, when they tell them or attest to them, become even more admirable. We have already told you several times about the world journeys of Infinite Ice Cream, That Chilean/Argentine couple (Loreta Neira and Victor Siete) who met at an underground concert in La Plata, who soon traveled to Mexico to create new music (and a new love), and who then, for many months, He toured Europe and the most exotic locations of the old continent completely independently, With their instruments, their backpacks, and their stamina until everything was exhausted. Well, then the pandemic arrived, and amidst the complications of the time, they settled in Santiago to continue creating their beautiful sound, this time from the very South of the continent.
In April of last year, while waiting for the lockdown to ease, they took refuge at a relative's house in Munich. His tour of bars and small cultural centers in Germany, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Ukraine and other countries in the region was halted for the obvious reasons of the moment. It was understandable that in someone else's home and under those circumstances, there would be desperation and a need for fresh air. It was then that Helado Infinito recorded the first of their Stranger Picnics. The idea is always to get away to a solitary spot with striking scenery, take their string and wind instruments, their samplers and microphones and improvise and from there create a "chapter" of a maximum duration of two minutes. The result, having a clear experimental spirit, and not including Loreta's voice in these exercises, It sounds more jazzy and moves away from the electro(indie/pop) that is reflected in the duo's traditional recordings. The compilation of these 14 episodes beautifully narrates the past year for this couple and their constant desire to remain creative. In recent conversations, they told us that as soon as borders reopen, they will continue traveling in their own way, sustaining their momentum through sharing their music. Until then, it's a pleasure to enjoy these short videos filmed in unexpected locations such as El Quisco, the edge of a private swimming pool, Mogren Beach (in the Balkans), Bavaria y La Virgen hill in Vicuña. Let the clips play one after another, and enjoy this good story.
