Kanaku and the Tiger The Year of the Rabbit

Let's start with a detail: This video is endearing, with its vibrant colors and elegant set design. We say this from the outset because so many people only watch television when they're in a roadside restaurant, tuned to whatever local channel is playing its ludicrous game shows, where, amidst cheap sequins, glory is fleeting and ridicule abounds. But let's get back to the clip: The result is brilliant because every detail is taken care of, from the flawless casting, the agile editing and the good humor that remains throughout the production. A beautiful way of presenting the unique style of electro-pop from these Peruvians, who, for obvious reasons, are becoming increasingly recognized across the continent.

Cande and PauloMud Maybe

Thirty-eight years after Luis Alberto Spinetta released his album  KamikazeHey, he'll publish it in that compilation. Mud Maybe, one of their best-known songs, comes this duo from San Juan, Argentina, presenting their own version, with piano, double bass and voice, and filling the atmosphere with beautiful nostalgia. Originally, this duo recorded their first performance at the Municipal Cinema Theater in their city, incredibly achieving over eleven million views to date. Here, they return to the camera in a classic Buenos Aires bar, imbuing the piece with an even more melancholic air while remaining true to the essence of the original composition. The result is captivating and deserves to be a prime example of this young project.

The Tenacious + Burning CaravanThere are no words.

Two widely recognized projects from Bogotá have joined forces to achieve something we could boldly label as "gypsy pop rock," with a party vibe and working-class lyrics, reminiscent of some early moments from the Spanish group Triana, or, perhaps bringing us a little closer to the present, certain compositions by Los Rodríguez., without that meaning a distancing from contemporary resonance. The song serves as a pretext for bringing together, in addition to the musicians participating in the recording, a series of visual artists, dancers, and actresses who, feeling free in front of the camera, offer their own interpretations of the song, using their own resources to express their personal memories of it. The final product is eclectic, works well in its mix, and is entertaining.
