The CloudsHum

Let's begin this series of reviews by talking about some good music coming out of Miami. It's striking that this eye-catching Latin band, with its strong female presence, corrosive sound, and brilliant lo-fi exponents, is based in one of the world's capitals of reggaeton and tropical dance. The first resonant memory that comes to mind makes us imagine J. Mascis, (of the legendary band Dinosaur Jr.) taking noisy vacations in the Caribbean. A very pleasant surprise, captivating us with its distinctive guitar distortion and the particularly dark blend of its vocals. Another interesting detail: This video was filmed on the streets of Mexico City, without any cinematic aspirations, other than to capture a fun evening of skateboarding amidst the city's traffic. Even so, the result helps us understand the band even better.

Ela Minus The sky belongs to no one.

Let's continue our journey and go up to New York City to meet this outstanding Colombian artist, who has recently attracted the attention of the most prestigious specialized media for her elegant electronic recordings, made to be enjoyed on the dance floor and in other spaces of reflection. This is a clip that, visually, is based on constant camera movement, intensely marking the rhythm of the song, further emphasizing the vehemence of the tune with the delicate and precise editing of the production., which grows from the decision to use the established boundaries between black and white as a color palette. More focused on the North American market, we still hope this Bogota native will have her chance to seduce a broad Latin American audience, who will hopefully be able to enjoy the work of this new icon of contemporary music.

Now let's go down to the town of Beccar, in the province of Buenos Aires, to enjoy a catchy anthem that deserves to be played at any family gathering (while we wait for the bars to actually reopen), and to be sung by many voices, especially when this Argentine singer says «"Everyone wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die."». Of course, that image sounds grotesque., But the truth is that we have an undeniable hit in front of us, with infectious guitars that shake us to the point of wanting to dance (the solo was done by Lula Bertoldi, from Eruca Sativa), Combined on screen with a wide variety of images that come together in a gritty but effective edit. It's a great track, without a doubt.
