BlondThe Species

Almost all human beings have had ample reason to reflect on our surroundings, the planet we live on, during these turbulent times. At times, we have been filled with doubt, uncertainty, and despair. Some have turned to ancient teachings and ancestral cultures for solutions. Others have found solace where they always have, in art. Here we have the new work from Fran Straube, who has elevated his Rubio project to incredible heights of expansion and global presence. Through intensely evocative imagery, Fran expresses his disagreement with the direction social and political affairs have taken and protests (in his own way) by showcasing, in this lengthy clip (a little over six minutes long), a moment of disillusionment. Then, after a sharp shift, he finds refuge in traditional ceremonies where he finds salvation. As we said at the beginning, everyone has their own process. That said, Rubio's music has never wavered in its intention to be danceable, which leads us to echo what others, more intelligent than us, have already said: Revolution has to be danceable; otherwise, it's not a revolution.

TenchioProjector

We like what this young Uruguayan does, a completely self-produced work, and he's responsible for all the audiovisual pieces he exhibits. We appreciate his stubbornness and his need to express what he wants to say in his own unique way. On this occasion, we found him in a solitary football stadium, with only his Fender Stratocaster guitar for company in front of the camera. There is nothing else, apart from the loneliness felt on the court. But the chaotic camera movement and then the editing, attentive and in sync with the rhythm of the recording, the colorimetry and the doodles chosen to accompany the wonderful chaos, allow us, as a final result, to visualize a fantastic clip, perfect for promoting the good and original sound of this interesting character, one of the new musicians of the moment who intends to give new life to an old institution such as rock.

The RabbisIf I get lost in New York

And we end this article with a tropical party, featuring one of the most legendary Caribbean rock fusion bands: Hailing from Panama, here's the new album from Los Rabanes. This group has a crystal-clear message: Don't ask them for sophistication or grand musical theories to save the world. Their goal is to make their audience laugh and enjoy themselves, in the most direct and honest way possible. That's why, with twenty-nine years of history under their belt, they're still going strong wherever they go, because their mission is to be a finely tuned and brilliant entertainment machine that, throughout its existence, has earned the respect and reverence of some of the continent's most brilliant artists. This isn't the most polished piece of cinema, but it manages to make anyone happy, and that, ladies and gentlemen, is called fulfilling its purpose in life.
