Tani – Random No
We've been following this Argentinian artist for a while now. Her name is Tani Wolff, and her second album, Mew, Released at the end of 2018, it was one of our favorite albums of that year. It has an inherently affable spirit that some might find trivial, but it gives us the excuse to use favorable words worth revisiting without feeling ashamed. We believe we are exercising our right to verbal resistance when we describe their material as tender, beautiful, and sensitive. We love her songs because they lift the spirits of her audience, offering a moment of small happiness that the public deserves. Likewise, an evolution is noticeable in this new recording; the sound is a bit more complex, and the textures that contribute to the final mix are more elaborate, without losing the original charm. That same charm is reflected in the compelling story told in the video, sustained by captivating color details and charming youthful imagery. In short, we're glad that Tani continues to make great pop music and that she hasn't lost her freshness.
Camila Moreno + Lido Pimienta "+ Ximena Sariñana – Let me
We resort to hackneyed sports terms to describe this union of well-known representatives of the Latin American alternative scene (taking responsibility for the use of such an ethereal and diffuse word as "alternative") as a true dream team. Here we have three voices that are in a stage of international growth, Together they achieve a song of dark and seductive sonic textures, fine instrumental craftsmanship, and a final mix that manages to feel powerful without losing its charm.. The video, though it has a result we might boldly call "simple," couldn't have been an easy undertaking, as its parts were filmed separately in Chile, Mexico, and Canada, where the artists reside. The secret to the successfully achieved unity lies in clearly defining a strict, close-up shot upon which to build all the takes, and from there, achieving suitable lighting to unify the work during editing. We celebrate these kinds of experiments across the continent, as they contribute to the growing brilliance of the current music scene.
Sonoras Mil – Welcome and farewell tune
The Gómez brothers seem to live from party to party throughout Colombia, making the most of the landscapes and bounty of the land that surrounds them. This is evident in their videos, charming mixes of improvisations in diverse locations and along various routes. Furthermore, when crafting their compositions, they draw upon an original rock essence and intensely infuse it with the diverse musical genres of their country. In this case, they bring us a recording that sounds like a blend of old Southern American blues with nostalgic inspirations from the Andean highlands, resulting in an unusual psychedelic aroma. One thing to admire about Sonoras Mil is that They retain an essence of work free from the contamination of the music industry, and it's noticeable that they do what they want without expecting to catch on to the most commercial charts., But, still, their work could have a genuine opportunity to be seen through wider communication channels that would allow them to reach audiences who would surely appreciate this vibrant artistic renewal, in a world of many repeated formulas.
Fenna Frei – Without Looking
Fenna Frei is the new solo project from musician and producer Candela Cibrián, and she debuts this new artistic phase with a beautiful ballad. Its main elements are piano and vocals, with additional instrumentation that enhances the song without diminishing its initial brilliance. The piece is accompanied by a curious video featuring some very strange characters whose nature remains unclear—whether they belong to the protagonist's horror universe or simply take on unique forms to express the project's distinctive aesthetic. In any case, everything is resolved pleasantly in the development of the performance and reaches its zenith with the artist's inspiring smile. Sometimes beauty comes to us in curiously shaped packages, and we have to wait until the end for the celebration to be complete.
