Okay – Spring:
They are twins, their names are Valentina and Valeria Pérez, they are Colombian, and they travel the world under the simple name Vale. Their music, at least as shown in the video, leans towards acoustic pop, where they combine their captivating voices with piano and guitar playing. Simplicity seems to be their motto, both in the composition of their songs and in the approach to their image., And that's reflected in this uncomplicated clip, filmed by the sea with an inflatable bed covered in white sheets, a ladder, a bouquet of roses, and whatever else happens to be in front of the camera. It's the epitome of minimalism, and it works very well for them. Great job.
Saint Mary – Bearskin
How many audiovisual projects have we attempted inside our homes these days, because of the pandemic? How many projects have we seen fail because we thought it was simply a matter of using our cell phone cameras and recording whatever was in front of the lens? Well, fortunately, there were some good results here. Let's start with the fact that there's an energetic song that's catchy from the first note and that saves the day without even having seen the video. Even so, being a video, we wanted to see it, and We liked the development of a claustrophobic story, edited in black and white and with details of close-ups that complement the appropriate atmosphere set in the script. It's appealing because of the intelligence of its simplicity and the impact it has on us, frame by frame. Brilliant.
Aluminé – Tomorrow
And here we break with simplicity and fill the screen with kaleidoscopic effects that serve to present a band with a fun mood that uses funk, disco and rock to make a song ready to start a party or, at least, to put on in the car/bus/subway/train or, in any circumstance, on any trip, and lift your spirits in the face of any eventuality. It's entertaining and helps you believe for a while that we're better off than we were five minutes ago. It's a good example of what's happening in Buenos Aires' indie pop scene, which, despite the quarantine, is preparing for future parties.
