For some time now, some prominent journalists in the field have been claiming that Costa Rica is the new special corner of Latin American alternative rock. A country with only 5 million inhabitants (fewer than many of the continent's major cities) yet boasts a vibrant music scene that in just a few years has garnered the attention of specialized critics, who recommend keeping an eye on what's being produced there. To speak of contemporary Costa Rican rock is to mention bands of great musical caliber such as Monte, The Waldners, Las Robertas, Colornoise, and, in this case, Florian Droids.

This band, formed in 2010, has reached this point after releasing several singles and two albums., and amid rumors of their separation, releases a song, Good, in two versions that are not very different from each other. Good It sounds like psychedelic tenderness, with a sharp guitar sound heavily inspired by the English band The La's, Accompanied by a simple yet captivating vocal melody, it's a recording brimming with an apparent innocence that conceals an addictive allure, compelling us to listen to it repeatedly.

If the news is true and this production is their farewell, we hope they will reconsider soon, and if not, we simply thank them for the good times provided. Hopefully other Costa Rican bands will follow their path of good music.
