In a new chapter of our section Creatives, we spoke with Sylvie Piccolotto, Brazilian woman residing in the city of Buenos Aires, who, alongside her husband, Pablo Hierro Dori, through his record label Scatter Recordds and his agency Rock City, They have positioned themselves as part of the main promoters of new music in Argentina. They have been organizing since 2007 Music is my girlfriend, a series of concerts by bands and artists from the independent scene, where they have participated some of the most interesting proposals on the South American scene And where, from time to time, some of the most striking acts from around the world perform. About to hold another concert in the coming days, Sylvie has taken the time to answer a few questions about her venture., which is worthy of being imitated throughout the Latin American continent:

What is it about? Music is my girlfriend?
Music Is My Girlfriend It's a series of shows that since 2007 It aims to showcase the most interesting proposals from the national and international independent scene. At our events More than 200 artists from Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Uruguay, Mexico, Chile, and Venezuela have participated. El Mató A Un Policía Motorizado, Banda de Turistas, Valle de Muñecas, Bicicletas, The Tormentos, Autoramas and Fantasmagoria are just some of the names that paraded through the posters of the cycle. In addition, we use the Music Is My Girlfriend “seal of quality” for our productions that have brought in prestigious artists like Mudhoney, The Datsuns, Eddie Spaghetti, Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals), Nada Surf, Atari Teenage Riot, and Dinosaur Jr., among many others. We held a festival, which ran for three editions. We are currently working on a series format., bimonthly in special editions.

Where did the idea come from??
We have a label called Scatter Records and after the tragedy of Cro-Magnon, It was super difficult for our friends and artists to play in Buenos Aires. It affected not only local bands, but also those from other cities, provinces, and internationally. But we had the label, and at that time there were many bands we wanted to see live, so we decided to do the series., to bring these bands together in a friendly setting and make it possible for them to play in the Federal Capital again at an event called “Music is my girlfriend”.

The name is wonderful; it also gives a friendly feeling of being different, of being involved in the scene, of searching for new sounds. Is that the spirit of the series?
Completely. It's a romantic idea to bring together bands that seem different or don't know each other. And from our curatorial perspective, we see a common thread that unites them, and in the end, we see that they all get along well, that they understand each other as artists, and the event turns out beautifully. It's normal that our friendly audience, who follow us to the events of... Music is my girlfriend He's going to see a band and at the end of the shows tell us that he discovered one or another new band and became a fan.

What requirements must a band meet to be included in the cycle?
You must believe in what you do and be willing to collaborate., to be part of the scene, want to be part of the team. We're always listening to new music, So it's best if they come closer, come and attend the shows, participate. We are open to listening to any artistic style or approach.

The graphic design is vitally important in promoting Music is my girlfriend, do you have any particular development plan?
We are honored to have on our team Nicolás Valdes (aka Remover) who is a graphic artist from Buenos Aires, who It gives us the right vibe to keep going. In the early editions of Music is My Girlfriend We had Lucas Varela's illustrations alongside Nico's design, fantastic! But Lucas moved to France and Nico continued supporting us from Buenos Aires. Adding color to all our crazy ideas! Each edition has a distinct texture, which It has to do with the style of the bands who will participate in the cycle.

Finally, what does the future look like for Music is my girlfriendWhat surprises await us in the coming days?
Now that it's cold and we're on winter break, We produced 2 dates to warm the heart. These are two important dates in July, one focusing on new bands like Núkuma (R&B), Walrus (Funk) and Dorrego (experimental electronics) and endorsing the already well-known and beloved Phantasmagoria, Positive Error y Ragazzas, two beautiful dates on the B-side of Niceto Club
