In the revitalization of the visual arts, the role that the trendy tool of the moment plays (and will continue to play) is undeniable: Artificial intelligence. For this reason, we have contacted NOD. He, a graduate in the field from the University of Chile, has been venturing into the development of music videos for some years now, a field in which, according to his preliminary information, You can experiment at will with manipulating images in conjunction with music. When contacted for this interview, NOD told us he's working on several projects in this creative field, including music videos for rock and metal artists. His goal is to continue innovating and offering the best to his clients in AI-powered video production.
What makes the type of videos you create different from those in other formats?
What makes our videos different from other formats is that we specialize in producing music videos focused on rock and metal music, and we use artificial intelligence and animation techniques to create a unique and futuristic visual style. Furthermore, we work closely with our clients to ensure the video reflects the creative vision and style of the band or artist. All of this combines to create a final product that stands out and differs from other conventional music videos. In addition, our music videos not only excel in their technical quality but are also surreal, making them even more unique and distinctive compared to other formats.
Why use artificial intelligence? What features does it add that you didn't have before?
The use of artificial intelligence in my music videos brings a new, surreal dimension that wasn't possible before. This technique complements my work in traditional, camera-based music videos, allowing for a unique combination of visual elements in my productions.
Can you explain a little more about this new surreal dimension?
With artificial intelligence, we can create new dimensions and surreal realities that were previously impossible. For example, we can represent the creation of the universe with a big Bang Emerging from a woman's mind, I create new anatomies and make everything seem like a dream or a nightmare. Some viewers describe my videos as an LSD trip, and for me as a visual artist, it's very satisfying to be able to explore these new creative languages.

Those of us who have used artificial intelligence tools and websites as amateurs are surprised by the results, but once you progress, there are disappointing moments where you receive less than you expect. How can you reduce that risk?
To minimize the risk of disappointing results when using artificial intelligence tools, it's important to remember that we're still in the early stages of this technology and that trial and error is an integral part of the learning process. It's true that thousands of images are generated, and in some cases, only 10% are useful, so patience and time spent fine-tuning the results are essential. In my experience, for some of my videos, I've had to create up to 200,000 images and constantly adjust the results to achieve the desired outcome. It's important to keep in mind that we're at the beginning of this technology, and we expect it to become simpler and more optimized in the future.
You've probably heard more than one person say that artificial intelligence kills human creativity. What are your thoughts on this observation?
Yes, it's important to keep in mind that artificial intelligence is a new tool and, as such, can be used to create new works and experiences that weren't possible before. It's true that there may be fears that this technology will replace human creativity, but in my personal experience, artificial intelligence has made it possible to create works that were previously very difficult for me. It has given me the freedom to create without limits and adds to the entire spectrum of what I could create with oil painting, photography, and video. We are in a new landscape that needs to be filled with new works, and artificial intelligence is yet another tool to do so.
Your technique in the videos reminds me somewhat of... stop motion, Is it similar, or am I definitely losing my way?
Of course, you're right. There are very similar elements between my technique and the stop motion. In my case, I generate images one by one and then combine them, creating a sequence that becomes a video. Sometimes I use 24 images per second, other times 12 per second, depending on what type of sequence works best and how the photos are joined together.
Does creating videos with artificial intelligence save costs and time?
Regarding whether artificial intelligence saves costs and time in video creation, I must say that at this early stage of the technology, that's not the case. To use artificial intelligence in video creation, I had to invest in a state-of-the-art computer at a cost similar to all my traditional video recording equipment. Furthermore, in terms of time, creating a video with artificial intelligence can take me from a month and a half to three months, while a traditional video can be filmed in a day and edited in a week. Despite all this, I believe the investment and time are worthwhile because the results can be very innovative and creative.
A question arises, seeing that the vast majority of music videos do not get the desired views, how can what you do make a difference compared to what others propose?
It's true, many bands fall into the trap of believing their work is bad simply because they don't get the desired views, failing to realize that streaming platforms are businesses and that gaining more views requires investment in various areas, such as promotion, advertising, marketing, and communications management. Therefore, the success of a music video depends not only on its quality but also on a suitable strategy for reaching the target audience.
Finally, what are your plans for the near future?
As for my plans for the near future, I'd like to continue experimenting with artificial intelligence and creating new music videos for bands, but I also want to expand my work to other countries. I'd love to offer my services to bands in Mexico, Colombia, the United States, Europe, and other parts of the world. Furthermore, my goal is to establish myself as a visual artist recognized for my surreal style, and for bands to want to work with me because they appreciate my art, regardless of whether I create it with a camera or with artificial intelligence.
