We've been hearing that phrase for many years now, yes, that one: «"Rock is dead"». And perhaps that's the case. There's so much bad music out there hanging on the rock label that we sometimes forget the genre's original intentions, how it aimed to change the world. and comfort the misfits of the planet. Is there any way to salvage the original idea? Amidst all the indie/hipster hype, will someone realize that there was a time when rock music had real substance and life, and new worlds could be discovered through almost eternal journeys averaging seven minutes? Could the solution lie in returning to Black Sabbath and other classics to relive better musical times?
That, at least, is what we understand the Argentinian band to be. Door handles. This group, which (of course!) is from the city of La Plata, has returned to the psychedelic roots of the 70s., building a thick, rough, enveloping, and uncompromising sound, who smells of all the shamanic smokes on the planet, and, sporting colorful bursts in their clothing, announces to us, at least in this song, that the war is over (The war is over).
Is so much beauty real? Such instrumental acidity and the accompanying vocal depth make us think Picaporters might be right. I don't think many people agree with all this nostalgic discourse that listening to this recording has generated, but at least its intense production happily confuses us and immerses us in a space of trust that allows us to think that There is still music that can take us out of our everyday routine. and move to better worlds.
