Yes, as we say in the title: These are the songs made by Latin American artists that we enjoyed the most in 2024. It's that simple. There are no market studies here, no comparisons with other sites, no impossible pressure from record labels (as if they'd even notice our work), no blackmail, and no payola. In fact, as an anecdote, we can tell you that our favorite song, the one that's made us jump the most, was made by an artist we greatly admire but who hasn't given us the opportunity to interview her. But its tune has saved us so many times that nothing else matters.
This is a playlist structured not as a ranking but more like the soundtrack to a journey. We've said and done it this way multiple times., We don't believe in top lists, those semi-Olympic rankings that give one song the 17th spot and another, just because, the 12th. That's a perverse distraction tactic used by the media, as if everything were a competition. Did one song beat the other? Why?
This playlist also gives us the opportunity to confirm a theory that has been on our minds for some time. We definitely believe that making songs in our times is not just about expressing feelings or desires, it's about inventing and innovating the sonic universe, at least in a minimal way. Those who do the same things as their parents (in this case, their predecessors) end up boring, end up disappointing. Making tunes today is a fight against stagnation and repetition. Here we present 24 beautiful examples of what we are saying.
This is our selection, featuring artists from Argentina, Colombia, Panama, Guatemala, Chile, Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela and the United States. Here you'll find Hip Hop, Rock (in many of its variations), Electronic (don't ask us to be specific), Pop, and some additional etceteras.
That's all there is to it. Hearing aids now!
Let's share new music. Let's share independent music. Let's share Latin music. Let's keep listening to good music.
