It's curious, We had always seen the opposite process, This is the phase in which the rock musician (in most cases the bassist) temporarily abandons their traditional role and experiments with turntables, positioning themselves for a time within the electronic music scene. In this case We see the renowned Bogota DJ Gerard (Gerardo Pachón) venturing into the realm of contemporary rock with a band. And he's in good company, to be honest. His bandmates include Carlos Marquez, lead guitarist of the group Aterciopelados, Pao Calderón, and the new voice of Yu Hee Kim, a Spanish singer of Korean origin, who has lived in Colombia for many years.
They are premiering these days Silver mines, a composition made ofwithin what in other times would be called shoegaze, With a sonic path perfectly defined by the bass, allowing for a pleasant development of the melody, it doesn't break many molds, but it achieves its clear objective of being attention-grabbing and very enjoyable. Their sound is similar to that offered by bands like Silversun Pickups, Sea Wolf, and, if we go back a few years, it has moments similar to those presented in some songs by The Smashing Pumpkins.
The song is available for all of you to stream and, if you wish, to download it for your personal collection.
