Yes, we've said it several times, and you've probably noticed it, it's obvious: We like good covers almost to an obsessive level. Excuse our obsession. A cover song is quite a challenge for artists, since the idea is for the audience to recognize the original composition, but at the same time, feel the personalized touch of the artists who are reworking it and trying to grab their attention. In this playlist we've compiled twenty interesting finds, sonic gems that pay homage to those who made the original recording., And in turn, like musketeers defying formal power, they try to turn things around and, perhaps, prove that something was missing the first time. Others would say that covers are attempts (sometimes unsuccessful, sometimes successful) to redesign the world through a tune. In short, we like good covers. And here we have two dozen productions executed in 2023 that we want you to listen to.

Latin artists from Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Mexico, Venezuela, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Peru, Chile, Some residents in their countries of birth, others in the United States and Canada, bring us records, in their own way, of songs from Gustavo Cerati, Manu Chao, Cafe Tacvba, Ray Charles, Staind and other prominent names in international music, in shades of pop, electronic, neo metal, cumbia, bolero, rock and other genres. Most of the included tunes, in their original versions, are deeply ingrained in popular memory and were originally composed within the last eighty years. What has been done by Milandrea, a Latina living in Quebec, with one of Chavela Vargas's most famous songs, including lyrics in French and adding electronic textures borrowed from current urban music. We must also highlight Clara Mailen's version of one of Phil Collins' most popular songs, which captures the drama of the original recording while adding the natural sensuality of the Argentinian artist's voice. Nico Rojo's tribute to Los Prisioneros was a must., Electric guitar and vocals were sufficient to complete a brilliant performance.

This list takes 75 minutes to complete and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
