This edition of Geografía Sonora is made not only to showcase more of contemporary Latin American talent, but also to thank a particular country. For some time now, due to social, political, economic circumstances, or simply because of the pleasure of living there, Many of the musical artists from our continent have decided to reside in the Mexican Republic. Of course, there are many explanations for this: For one thing, it's the largest Spanish-speaking country in the world. Furthermore, it has a very broad cultural market that extends throughout its territory and isn't limited solely to its enormous capital city. Mexico, Furthermore, it is a nation that, despite all the drawbacks we already know, tiIt has democratic guarantees and in recent years has enjoyed a progressive government and enviable economic stability. Its proximity to the United States also helps, where there are increasingly more fans of its sound. But, above all, it must be said, the Latin musician feels comfortable there., because the audience is willing to listen to and celebrate their work, without prejudice.
Big names in international pop have been living in Mexico City and the surrounding area for some time now, names like Mon Laferte, Esteman and Daniela Spalla, with millions of streams on major digital platforms. Also included in this remarkable list are projects with a growing presence on various stages across the continent, such as Juan Pablo Vega, Francisca Valenzuela and Los Mesoneros. And we've also included representatives from the independent scene in this playlist, with some very interesting sounds like Rubio, Mabe Fratti and Sexores.
This list, we warn you, contains some bands whose members may be scattered around the globe., but who develop a good part of their career during the year primarily in Mexico. It is their launching point for every premiere and one of the main venues for their promotional tours, with itineraries that cover the entire perimeter of that nation.
This hour-and-a-half musical journey is just a small sample of everything that goes on there. There's much more to mention. Mexico is a friendly territory towards our diaspora, and embraces the art that these displaced musicians have decided to develop on its soil. Once again, friends, thank you very much.
