Another Monday and we have our eyes and ears on the map of the continent, to talk, once again, about a local phenomenon in one of our cities and countries. Today we're going to Costa Rica. Without fear of being wrong, It is the most interesting and developed musical center in Central America. We've been noticing it for several years now. Costa Ricans are proud of a movement that, although small compared to larger and more populated markets, It has constant movement, and a curious, experimental artistic community with high-quality productions. Many musical styles thrive here, ranging from reggae to hardcore and metal, And we know there's a fraternal atmosphere between the different genders. By gaining international exposure, This scene reaches, without inhibition, the various focal points of the continent. and, why not say it, of the planet.
In this list of 25 songs We have recordings of such prominent names as those of The Robertas y Bull's-eye, as well as projects reviewed at the time by Zonagirante.com such as Triptych, Barzo, The Waldners y Half Tangerine. We've included some very striking pop and folk acts like Hijos, Selvas, and Foffo Goddy. We also have bold and daring rock that happily darkens the tropical music scene, such as The War Machines, Angustia Espirtual, Descentricos and Ariel Maniki and the black halos. Today we're approaching an hour and a half of diverse sounds, all independently produced, originating in San José and its surroundings. This is pura vida (alternative).
Our interest, in creating Geografía Sonora, It is to foster knowledge among the different members of the Latin American musical community, so that we know where we stand, and so that we can create opportunities for exchange, having a clearer understanding of our realities. This isn't empty rhetoric; it reflects a reality many are unaware of, thus limiting the likelihood of reciprocity among us all. Welcome!
