You, our followers, know that we treat the introductory texts for our weekly playlists as a kind of cathartic outlet for everything we experience. Sometimes, instead of recreating stories from our newsroom, we turn to the words of others we admire and, with all due respect, use them to express what we feel at that moment. This time, we've dared to translate part of a poem The Hill We Climb, by the writer Amanda Gorman, a young African American woman who recited on January 20th in front of the newly elected President Joe Biden and the world, These are the words we identify with in difficult days, without ceasing to look ahead:
«"And yes, we are far from polished, far from pristine,
But that doesn't mean we're striving to form a perfect union.
We strive to forge our union with a purpose.
To build a country committed to all cultures, colors, characters, and conditions of man.
And then we lift our gaze not to what stands between us, but to what is in front of us.
We are closing the gap because we know that, to put our future first, we must first put aside our differences.
We rest our arms so we can stretch to each other.
We do not seek to harm anyone, but rather harmony for all.
Let the balloon, at least, say that this is true:
That even while we cried, we grew.
Even though it hurts, we were expecting it.
Even when we were tired, we tried.
That we will always be bound together, victorious.
Not because we will never know defeat again, but because we will never sow division again.
For the third time in 2021, We continue to find poetry in the new songs of the continent, And that's why we present twenty brand-new songs made in Colombia, Argentina, Peru, Uruguay, Chile and Mexico, whose sound is related to labels such as Pop, Fusion, Folk, Hip Hop, Electronic and Rock. Among others, we've added the new single from Collector, the latest production of Mengers, the new publication of Palm potato and the most recent recording of Naia Valdez.
We repeat once again our favorite phrase for these kinds of occasions: Find your headphones, step away from the world and listen. This is the Zonagirante.com playlist for January 22, 2021.
