At eighteen, when most teenagers in any era of history (at least the most privileged ones) are thinking about how to win over the girls around them, how to get their first bottles of intoxicating liquids, and examining ways to prove they are smarter, more beautiful, and more capable than they actually are, a Frenchman with a weak gaze, a gaunt elegance, and a brain full of words like explosives about to detonate in the eyes of the readers, He wrote one of the most exquisite poems about the month we are living through:

May Flags

On the light-colored branches of the linden trees
A sickly hunting sound dies away.
But spiritual songs
They flutter among the currants.
As our blood laughs in our veins,
Behold, the vines intertwine
The sky is beautiful like an angel.
Azure and shadow commune.
I'm going out. If lightning strikes me
I will succumb upon the moss.

Be patient and get bored
It's too simple. Away with my worries.
I want the dramatic summer
I tied myself to his chariot of fortune
Because of you in so much, oh Nature,
– Ah, less alone and less worthless! – I'm dying
While the shepherds have grace
They die more or less around the world.

I really want the stations to use me,
To you, Nature, I surrender,
with my hunger and all my thirst.
And, if you please, nourished, watered.
Nothing excites me at all;
It's laughing at your parents, like laughing at the sun.,
But I don't want to laugh at anything;
and be free from this misfortune.

His name was Jean Arthur Rimbaud His text dates from 1872. At the age of 21, he abandoned literature. He then began to travel and enlisted as a soldier in the Dutch colonial army so he could travel to the island of Java, only to desert later. He packed his bags again and settled in Aden, Yemen, as a relatively important employee at the Bardey Agency. He then worked as a self-employed merchant in Harrar, Ethiopia, where he made a small fortune as an arms dealer. In 1891 he settled in Marseille and died of cancer at the young age of 47. Rimbaud demonstrated that one can live life in reverse, like when you're told that at twenty you should be rebellious, but at forty you should be proper, resignedly accepting the world's order. That's a shame, don't you think?
