For decades now, in the Zonagirante.com newsroom, we've distanced ourselves from faith peddlers and hypocrites. It's been quite some time since we lit candles to gods or knelt to pray to idols of any kind. We've steered clear of showers of holy water and avoided the loudspeakers of self-proclaimed prophets, knowing full well that they always fail in their predictions and their sermons of contempt for unbelievers. We don't wear traditional necklaces with religious ornaments around our necks, nor do we accumulate holy cards with faded-colored images of saints in our wallets. We doubt every deity and anyone who tries to sell themselves as a messiah. We have no prayers to envelop us in false hopes of relief, nor are we convinced by sermons from the altars. The truth is, in moments of despair, we've preferred to turn on the stereo and listen to the old and new tunes that give us peace while the storms rage around us.
For the twenty-eighth time in 2020, we face the storms while twenty new songs from Colombia play, Argentina, Peru, Uruguay, Ecuador, Chile and Mexico, and whose sound is related to labels such as Pop, Fusion, Folk, Reggae, Hip Hop, Electronic and Rock. Among others, we added the new single from Guanaco, the latest production of Silver Revolver, the new publication of Silver Rose and the most recent recording of Ana Tijoux.
We repeat once again our favorite phrase for these kinds of occasions: Find your headphones, step away from the world and listen. This is the Zonagirante.com playlist from July 17, 2020.
